The Upstate is the engine driving South Carolina’s new economy. During the past seven years, companies have invested more than $9 billion in capital in the Upstate, creating nearly 35,000 jobs.

On Thursday, March 30, 2017 Spartanburg Community College held its Economic Visionaries Event.  This event honors the business leaders in Upstate South Carolina.

We are honored that our very own, Mr. Charles Atchison was the recipient of the 2017 Economic Visionaries Award for his extraordinary leadership in transforming the upstate.

We would also like to congratulate three other 2017 Economic Visionaries award winners:

• Mr. Terry Mallard, President and CEO of Broad River Electric Cooperative.
• Mr. Bob Hart, Plant Manager at The Timken Company, Tyger River Plant.
• Mr. Max Metcalf, Manager of Government and Community Relations at BMW Manufacturing, Inc.
