Minority Business Person of the Year was awarded to Charles Atchison, owner and founder of Atchison Transportation, for his work in building the state’s largest full-service ground transportation company.

Charles Atchison started his first business in 1949 with a Ford he used as his personal car and his first taxi. Since then, Atchison has spent most of his life getting others to their destinators, building the state’s largest full-service ground transportation company along the way. Atchison, owner of Atchison Transportation Services, Inc., provides executive sedan service, limousine, charter bus and airport shuttle services to customers in and around Spartanburg County.

Having won several awards for community service, Atchison is an example of what work ethic and a commitment to service can lead to.
